“My first job was as a wedding photographer. I was 18 and had bought a brown corduroy suit and Italian shirts for the occasion. It suited me well to watch others be happy and to be the one on whom the memory of the most beautiful day of their lives depended. And besides, I only worked Saturdays, which left me time to think about other things. The wedding photographer has a central role; he is the only one who is so close to the bride and groom from morning till night. He is so close, he sees everything, he hears everything. He advises, arranges the dress, directs the family crowds, and creates memories by tirelessly repeating a repertoire of tried-and-tested poses.”
