Liz Johnson Artur

The new self-titled monograph of Liz Johnson Artur is a substantial restrospective overview of more than 30 years of work. The Russian-Ghanian photographer has spent 3 decades primarily documenting black culture around the world; from Peckham to Russia, US to Africa, The West Indies to Europe. Her photographs demonstrate a close engagement with her subjects and offer a compassionate portrait of a diverse range of cultures, free from the typical associations of race that still permeate popular photography even today.
