The Story

‘In Today’s News’ is a series by Kaamna Patel wherein she appropriates images from print media to comment on a number of topics. This first volume, called ‘Alpha Males & Women Power’ uses images from print media in India to comment on prevalent patriarches and pre-determined gender roles. Using the semiotics of images, ‘In Today’s News’ attempts to reveal the dominant ideology of a people at a particular time in their history, while leaving room for the reader to uncover their own biases that may be informed, consciously or subconsciously, by this ideological structure.
