American Firemen

'They're Americans, black, white, sons and nephews of firefighters, Italians, Irish; and more recently women too. Firefighters by vocation or tradition, bound daily by the extreme. Above all they're real people, immersed in everyday life and its inexplicable misery. Sincere and generous, they smoke - like troopers - and although they never drink on duty will never say no to a night on the beer with the "brothers", as they say, repeating over again : "No, you're the best fireman!" "No wait, you're the best. I'd follow you in the jaws of hell!" "No it's neither you nor me. It was Joe (or Bill, John, Frank, Paul etc.). If only they were still with us!"

CONDITION: Very good, a light fading to the title page but all in all very good condition.
